Assignments on Assignments on Assig…you get the point

From Audio Assignments to Daily creates we had a lot going on this week! So let me give you the quick and dirty version!

The first assignment I decided to take part in was to create a “relaxing” playlist for listeners and I did this by gathering my favorite songs and sound effects from nature and putting them together to make this relaxing playlist. It’s short because of size issues, I know we tend to see hours on hours of this usually but I didn’t want to mess with downloading and uploading something so massive.

My next assignment I chose was to create an “earr*pe” sound. This is something that is extremely painful to listen to and I don’t recommend doing it for fun! The goal of this was to take a common noise or song and make it unbearable and that’s exactly what I did.

The last assignment that I chose to take part in was the mixing and matching of a song and it’s cover. For this I went with the classic Zombie by Cranberries. During this mix-up my goal was to make them as seamless as possible and sound as if they are on the same track together. I enjoyed this project because it challenged my ability in audacity. For certain parts of the song I would drop the dbs in one area and raise them in another when the lyrics would get close to matching. It is by no means perfect but it was a fun exercise.

For the daily creates I chose to do tdc3329, tdc3331 and tdc3333. I’m not a huge fan of daily creates if I’m completely honest because I feel that they are just busy work in most cases, however I do find the occasional fun ones that I feel challenge me to be better, and those are the ones I see value in of course!

I will say that the Radio Bumper was pretty fun, it was quick and simple but still taught me some cool things about audacity. One other fun activity was the radio broadcasts that we listened in on and commented on. It was really fun to read through and see what everyone was thinking and doing during that time! Fun to listen to all the creative ideas and intros everyone had on their minds!

Most exciting aspect that I look forward to is finding out who our groups will be and what project this radio project intel’s!

MIX N MATCH

This assignment was the hardest but most rewarding! I was tasked with taking an original song and a cover and mixing them together. It was tough getting them exactly right because they are obviously going to be slightly off, but that’s all a part of the challenge and when it was all said and done I thoroughly enjoyed it and I love the final product. All I really needed to do was take the highs and lows and find the best places to swap the sound but I really had a good time with it.

SoundCloud didn’t like this because of copyright issues so as a disclaimer I take no credit for this but It was a fun project and I love both songs.

EARR*PE

“Ear Rape is a term used to define distorted or very loud sound clips or songs that pop out on YouTube or flash videos, generally screamersYouTube poops or montage parodies, even it is generally being included as jumpscare on screamers, it can be also intended to be annoying or ear damaging”

Now that this is out of the way we can proceeded! I chose a meme mostly that my friends and I make fun of and it originated with the Roblox theme song. First of all I highly discourage anyone from listening because it is toxic haha but I had to try it. So I took the Minecraft theme song and BLEW it out of proportion in Audacity to complete this assignment. I had a lot of fun and the final product again (LISTEN AT OWN RISK)

CHILL! just relax

For this assignment I wanted to grab sounds from my favorite environment and throw them together to create a short little playlist that is peaceful and easy to listen to and fall asleep too. I grabbed and compiled my sounds and songs into Audacity and mixed them all together to create this playlist!

Listen closely…

I jumped on to this train a little late but I had a lot of fun running through everything and everyone’s comments. This is a great way to build community and get together on a common ground. My twitter wasn’t poppin too much this time around but I’m sure and excited to see what the future holds! I can’t wait to continue tuning into these fun events and learning more and more about everyone as time passes!

Brainstorm

I don’t have a ton of ideas for a radio show but if I were to create on I’d like it to be a little different than all the others. Not open with dumb trivia questions. Maybe talk about some interesting news that others don’t discuss but keep it fun and play some good jams! Not just the top 10 trending like everyone else haha. Almost anything interests me but I really like how one podcast I listen to approaches this method. NDQ is fun and they just chat but it’s still very educational.

If this interests you or you’d like to peruse a more free method on this group project than comment below and let me know your ideas or if you want in!! We’ll have a lot of fun with it.

Bump to the Bumper

This assignment was actually super fun especially because I want to start getting into this field a little bit more and exploring options, but for this assignment all I did was record my voice with a little clip of what we’re tuning into and then I found a track royalty free on YouTube that I could use and then took it straight into Audition and edited them together with some smooth transitions. Hope you enjoy!

Weekly Sum….uhhhh

Not sure if we have a weekly summary for today (02/19/21) But all I found was to complete this form for who’s posts I liked the most! I’ll give a quick recap just in case though! We had quite a few assignments this week starting with the blog post about our experience working with photography and our interests and what we have learned and observed through that time. Then creating another blog post that put to work some of our previous photos and how they were taken under a certain list of credentials relating to the basics of being a better photographer. Straight from their we moved into our photoblitzes assignment! This was a TON of fun and taught me a lot and I loved this challenge because of how quickly it tests you to think on your toes and come up with something visually pleasing while also not making it perfect. This week we also had to create 12 STARS! worth of weekly assignments from the Writing Assignment Bank which took way longer than I would have liked. It’s not that it’s too difficult necessarily, but I would rather spend my time with more photo blitzing, haha. For my assignments I chose to create a “collage message“, “celebrity where they shouldn’t be“, and a “reenactment of a movie scene“. Each one turned out okay but I would like to focus more on putting in the time next time because I think it shows in my work.

Moving right on to our Daily Creates I created and posted on my twitter the 3 creates that I chose to participate in and I liked interacting with the community over those because of all the positive feedback that was awesome!

And finally! I posted a few comments. I usually don’t include this in my weekly post because it feels pointless, but if it benefits the professor than I want to help but those peoples blogs are for them and I don’t feel I need to flaunt comments.

Photastic!

Alright, that was pretty fun. I love challenges like this because they force the person taking the pictures to think on their feet and I think you can get a more genuine picture sometimes because of this. This took me 13 minutes to do and I definitely have my own cretiques, but I had fun with it. As you can see below, photo 1 and photo 9 are just the start and end times. The rest correspond with the order you see in the first picture, but I’ll make it easy on you and label them 😉

The Pinch!

Image result for maze runner pinch between wall

For this assignment we had to recreate a scene from a favorite movie of ours This scene is from the movie The Maze Runner, before thomas runs into the maze. I absolutely love this movie and I did not do this scene justice! I used a trash can and an old box for the walls and never got the spacing or alignment right but this is why it’s a recreation not the real thing I guess. But I had fun messing around with some home tools and a phone!
